The Kaffir Lime is native to Indonesia. It is a bumpy green fruit that grows on a thorny bush, and the juice and rind are used in traditional Indonesian medicine. This essential oil has strong insecticidal properties, and is extracted by steam distillation of the whole ripe fruit to create an almost colorless liquid with a strong lemony smell. It is energizing, uplifting and contributes an overall feeling of well-being, making it a valuable ingredient for uplifting and slightly stimulating essential oil blends.
