Citronella has a light and crisp lemon-like aroma, and is commonly used as an insect repellent for mosquitoes and fleas. It also helps with excessive perspiration (when applied topically), fatigue (when inhaled), and to prevent food spoilage.
Citronella is best known for its use in candles to discourage mosquitoes from biting. If you are making an anti-bug candle, be sure to use at least 1.5 ounces of essential oil per pound of wax. Citronella (the component that bugs don’t like) is higher in our Java variety of Citronella compared to Ceylon Citronella.
